Role of B cells and antibodies in Candida albicans colonization and infection

Candida albicans is a benign member of the human microbiota, but can become a lethal pathogen in immunocompromised hosts. As it plays a substantial and increasing role in nosocomial infections, and resistances to the few available antifungal agents arise.
