Film Screening: Picture A Scientist
Online
We cordially invite you to join the online screening of the documentary “Picture A Scientist": “Picture A Scientist chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. Along the way, from cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we encounter scientific luminaries - including social scientists, neuroscientists, and psychologists - who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.”
The screening is jointly organized by the Leibniz-HKI, the JSMC and the CRC/TR FungiNet. It will take place on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 8:00 pm. It will be followed by a JSMC discussion round directly afterwards.
On Friday, April 16, 2021 from 9:00-10:00 am, we will hold a panel discussion with women scientists from Jena. The film will be shown in English with German subtitles.
Binding registration is required for participation. If you would like to participate, please send an email to katja.praefcke@jsmc.info until April 1, 2021 and you will then receive your personal Vimeo link to watch the video stream. The link is valid for 48 hours (from April 14, 12:00 until April 16, 12:00). The login details for the discussions will also be sent to you by email shortly before the event.
