Workshop description: Job application essentials. How to decipher job ads, craft cover letters & tailor CVs for a career in academia and beyond
Whether you are a PhD student or Postdoc: Applying for jobs and preparing your documents can be challenging – especially if you are transitioning into industry or other sectors. In this hands-on one-day workshop, you will learn to understand job ad jargon, build the bridge to your skills & experiences, and tailor CV & cover letter to a specific position. We will also look at differences in academic and non-academic CVs and explore strategies to get more background information for your perfect application.
Workshop coach: Dr. Birte Seffert is heading the career advisory and coaching services at GSO, a Berlin-based Non-Profit empowering researchers to build careers in Germany in and outside of academia. For many years, she worked with international PhD students and Postdocs in Aachen, Cottbus, and Berlin. She is trained as a systemic coach and loves giving interactive workshops.
