Die Bedeutungen der Wissenschaften für die moderne Zivilisation ist uns gerade vor der Hintergrund der Covid-Pandemie erneut sehr deutlich vor Augen gestellt worden. Zugleich steht der Anspruch der Wissenschaften auf überlegenes Wissen immer wieder grundsätzlich in Frage – und das nicht erst, seit von ‚post-truth‘ und ‚alternative facts’ die Rede ist. Der Vortrag versucht zu zeigen, dass man ausgehend von Friedrich Nietzsche einen erhellenden Blick auf diese Möglichkeiten, Grenzen und Herausforderungen einer wissenschaftlichen Kultur werfen kann.

Nietzsche and the sciences in the post-truth era with Helmut Heit from the Klassik Stiftung Weimar.
The significance of the sciences for modern civilization has once again been made very clear, especially against the background of the Covid pandemic. At the same time, science's claim to superior knowledge is always fundamentally in question - and not just since people started talking about 'post-truth' and 'alternative facts'. The lecture tries to show that, starting from Friedrich Nietzsche, one can take an enlightening look at these possibilities, their limits and challenges of a scientific culture.
