Congratulations to Prof. Christian Eggeling for receiving the JSMC Supervision Award 2025

We are delighted to announce that Prof. Christian Eggeling has been honoured with the JSMC Supervision Award 2025 in recognition of his outstanding dedication to the supervision and mentorship of Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers.

The award was presented during the closing ceremony of this year’s JSMC Summer School at the Zeiss-Planetarium in Jena. Prof. Eggeling was selected for his inspiring and supportive approach to guiding early career researchers, fostering both their scientific independence and professional development.

As he emphasized upon receiving the award:

“My curiosity is mainly fuelled by working with young scientists who are eager to learn and investigate new things. Motivating them is the most fun I have as a scientist. Often, I just let them explore, even if it wasn’t my primary goal with them. But it usually gets us somewhere.”

This recognition reflects the central role of high-quality supervision within the JSMC and celebrates the invaluable contribution of our JSMC Faculty members to the success of the graduate school and its community.
