JSMC Graduates - A PhD Journey: Malte Siemers
Text by Malte Siemers
The JSMC was a lot of help to me. Hendrik and Katja were always there for my questions and also for emotional support when I needed it.
Due to Covid, not many meetings or other exchanges happend during my PhD, but I enjoy them now. I started a postdoc in Bas Dutilh’s VEO group and study phage-host
interactions through computational modelling now. I will stay connected with the JSMC as a postdoc, although I don’t fully understand how postdocs are integrated into the gradschool.
From the recent developments I particularly liked the supervision award. I hope it will foster a friendly competition towards better supervision of PhD students between the PIs :)
