Mentoring Program

We designed three different programs tailored to the specific needs of PhD candidates and Postdocs.

In short:

An Intercultural Peer Mentoring and a Doctoral Peer Mentoring Program are planned to launch within the first half of 2024. The goal of Intercultural Peer Mentoring is to help international PhD candidates ‘adapt’ the German peculiarities in a relaxed atmosphere through the support of a peer (German) PhD or Postdoctoral fellow.

The Doctoral Peer Mentoring focuses on active help all around mental health, research funding, time management, etc. through a postdoctoral fellow who has already successfully navigated their way through German academia. The goal is the successful completion of your PhD research project with as much help as possible.

In the second half of 2024, we’re planning to launch the Postdoctoral Career Mentoring Program. The JSMC is very happy and proud to announce that we already have secured the support of national and international scientists in academia, industry, etc. as mentors for our postdocs.

For more information and how to apply please see the info sheet.

Applications for mentors and mentees are now open until March 20th, 2024.

A leadership workshop on how to be a good mentor will be held end of March 2024. Preferences will be given to all who applied as mentors in one or more of the Mentoring Programs.
